What to Do If You Forgot the Memo/Tag
This is one of the most common mistakes crypto beginners make. When depositing XRP, EOS, BNB (BEP2), XLM, and similar tokens, you need both a wallet address AND a Memo or Tag. If you forget it or enter it wrong, your deposit may not arrive automatically. Don't panic — in most cases, funds can be recovered.
Register on Binance if you don't have an account yet.
Why Some Tokens Need a Memo/Tag
Blockchains like XRP, XLM, EOS, and ATOM use shared deposit addresses for all users. The Memo/Tag identifies which user a deposit belongs to. Without it, the platform can't automatically credit your account.
Think of it this way: the wallet address is the building's street address, and the Memo/Tag is your apartment number.
Are the Funds Lost?
No. Your tokens reached Binance's wallet address — they just can't be auto-credited without the Memo/Tag. The funds are safe and just need manual processing.
Recovery Steps
Step 1: Confirm the transaction completed
Check the sending platform for the transaction status and note: TxID, sending address, receiving address, amount, and time.
Step 2: Submit a support ticket
Log into Binance > Customer Service > "Deposit not arrived" > select the token > explain you forgot the Memo/Tag > attach the TxID.
Step 3: Wait for processing
Usually 1-3 business days, possibly 3-7 during busy periods.
Step 4: Possible recovery fee
Binance may charge a service fee for user-error recoveries.
Prevention Tips
- Read deposit page warnings carefully
- Use the Binance app where Memo/Tag prompts are more prominent
- Test with a small amount first
- Always copy-paste — never type manually
- Screenshot the address and Memo/Tag before each deposit
