When depositing USDT to Binance, you'll see multiple network options. TRC20 and ERC20 are the most common. Choosing wrong won't lose your tokens, but fees and speed differ dramatically.

TRC20 vs ERC20
Both are USDT worth exactly $1. The difference is the underlying blockchain: TRC20 = TRON network, ERC20 = Ethereum network.
Fees
TRC20: ~1 USDT. ERC20: 3-50 USDT depending on Ethereum gas prices. TRC20 wins overwhelmingly.
Speed
TRC20: 1-3 minutes (1 confirmation). ERC20: 5-30 minutes (12 confirmations).
When to Choose ERC20
Only if the sending platform/wallet only supports ERC20, or you need USDT in Ethereum DeFi.
Other Options
BEP20 (BSC): similarly cheap to TRC20. Solana: extremely cheap and fast. Polygon: also very cheap.
Critical Rule
The sending and receiving networks MUST match. Sending ERC20 USDT to a TRC20 address may result in permanent loss.
Summary
Default to TRC20 for daily use. Use ERC20 only when required by the Ethereum ecosystem. Always verify network match on both ends.
